The LCC Kindergarten Program provides a small class learning environment for students. Recent research proves that small class size leads to higher student achievement, better grades, reduced grade retention, lower dropout rates, and higher college aspirations. Research also indicates that the academic benefits that students receive from a small classroom experience in Kindergarten continues after they move into larger classes. The small class sizes provided by LCC enable the teachers to nurture the talents of all students and utilize their individual gifts to participate in the following areas:

  • Phonemic awareness
  • Word recognition
  • Fluency
  • Acquisition of vocabulary
  • Reading processes including concepts of print, comprehension strategies, and self-monitoring skills
  • Writing processes, applications and conventions
  • Research
  • Oral and visual communication skills
