LCC School Age Summer Camp SUMMER CAMP

Summer Camp Guide

Weekly Themes for 2024:

Summer Camp Hours- 7am-6pm Monday-Friday

Some highlights of what campers will experience…

Arts and Crafts- Campers will work on several creative art projects throughout the summer. Projects will be done daily or worked on throughout the week as a group.

Cooking- A variety of cooking activities will take place throughout the summer. This will help reinforce science and math skills.

Inside Activities- Each day campers will have a chance to participate in one or more of the following activities: board/card games, computers, ipads, smartboards, free art, dramatic play, quiet reading, listening to music, and age appropriate toys.

Outside Activities- Outdoor activities include: playing on the playground, outdoor art, hockey, basketball, kickball, lacrosse, soccer, football, jump rope, water fun and group games.

Journals- These are created and worked on throughout the summer by the campers. The purpose of the journal is to document their time at camp, promote writing practice, and use scrapbooking/photography materials.

Snacks-. Campers have a variety of fun and healthy choices to pick from each day for AM & PM snacks.
Mission Projects- During the summer campers work on mission projects to help organizations around our community.

Lunches- Campers will bring their lunch each day. Throughout the summer, we will have special lunches for campers to make or order out.

Field Trips-   During the summer our campers will have many opportunities to take trips away from the building. This allows the campers to be exposed to new and exciting environments. The camp teachers work to create activities centered around the trips to provide further enrichment. Chartered school buses are used for the trips and additional camp staff attend. Some favorite camp field trips include: the Zoo, COSI, Super Games, the Movies, Bowling and so much more! If campers would like to take part in a field trip that is planned for a day that they do not attend camp, depending on space available, they may come just for the field trip and pay the field trip cost.

Academics- While school is out for the summer, campers still need to keep their academic skills sharp. We work to implement a variety of opportunities for campers to maintain their academic skills. We do this in a manner that is fun and engaging. Many activities are done as group or as a game. We also offer fun rewards when work has been completed.  Since all lead camp teachers are degreed teachers, they are able to focus on where each child needs to be academically and plan materials accordingly.

Staffing- Part of having a wonderful camp is having a strong camp staff. Each summer we are blessed to hire staff that have degrees in Education and have experience working with elementary aged children. Many of our camp staff return summer after summer because they love the LCC Camp atmosphere.
